New Pictures of the Onkyo Model 20 Speakers

Finally took some nicer pictures of the Onkyos.  Also gave the rubber surrounds a cleaning and conditioning treatment.  They look a lot better than the old photos!

Article: Vinyl Must Prevail!

Found this interesting article: http://www.noisey.com/blog/vinyl-must-prevail Enjoy!  New people entering vinyl, the first half of the first sentence is really important for those starting out into vinyl.  In other words, don't ruin your records on poor/worn out equipment!

Wharfedales Linton 3

Great sounding speakers, perfect for a small room.  Excellent detail with a lovely sound.  Has that old Wharfedale signature.  Think W60/70/90 in a smaller box and smaller soundstage of course.  They're great Jazz speakers that's for sure!  They will be getting the refurb treatment soon!

RFT K13 Profil Speakers

Found these little yet heafy guys in one of my speaker pile.  Dusted them off, hooked them and they sound great!  RFT is an Eastern Germany Compnay.  It's a 2-way, with an 8" woofer and 1" dome tweeterm, which resembles a human eye.  I think it reminds me of some Phillips tweeters.  It sounds really good, need a bit of power to get them going being in an acoustic sealed box.  But, it sounds really nice when opened up.  Excellent bass and treble.  Midrange is also just as nice.  Strong German sound, a bit flat when compared to the Western German made speakers that I have.  But, the frequency chart on the front does say it's relatively flat. This is what I can remember from the original owner.  He bought it at Zellers, that's right Zellers.  It was marketed as a "studio monitor" speakers.  Don't know how long they sold it for but, RFT did made some very nice speakers from what I can find!  Snap shots:

H.H. Scotts S-176 Speakers

While there isn't a lot of information about these speakers, they are truly wonderful!  The sound is just amazing on this pair of speakers.  A simple 2-way in a ported box, phenolic ring tweeter with a wonderful woofer.

Power Rating Old vs New: Fact or Fiction?

Here is a very interesting thread on this concept.  There are quite of few insightful postings. http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=119590 Post #20 is very insightful.  For speakers, another important aspect to consider when looking into matching speakers to amplifiers is voltage vs current loading.  Physics, even if you hate it, it's still applies!

Yamaha CR-620 Teaser!

Kenwood and Sherwood Receivers

These are great little receivers and both are in great condition.  If I had to choose, I'd probably take the Sherwood!
